Henri Matisse was known for his bold and bright colored paintings. A painter of the Fauvist movement, he choose colors based on what he thought looked best and not on reality. The resulting paintings, with sometimes unrealistic and shocking colors, are eye-catching and fun. Students will love his famous Fish Bowl painting. They will then create their own version of Matisse's Fish Bowl using watercolor pencils and a template as needed.
